Snapchat doesn’t want to be left behind in the race against TikTok, Instagram and X. Some features offered to paid Snapchat+ subscribers in the past weeks are now available to all users. One of these innovations was the distribution of the dark mode option in the Snapchat application.
Snapchat dark mode is open to everyone; monetization period has begun
The popular app is now rolling out dark mode for all Android users without the need for a Snapchat+ subscription. Snapchat used to restrict dark mode access on Android devices to paying Snapchat+ subscribers. However, this paywall for dark mode has been removed.
Snapchat’s support page still requires a subscription for early access to dark mode, but users say the feature is available for free.
On the other hand, Snapchat states that the paid subscription system has reached more than 4 million users. This program, which offers new features for $3,99 per month, also gives access to the company’s own Snapchat My AI bot.
Snapchat is also improving its AR capabilities with another feature targeting specific markets. Various payments will be made to incentivize users who develop AR-oriented effects and filters. According to the company’s statement, users will be able to receive up to 7200 dollars a month thanks to the filters they develop.
The program is currently available in around 40 countrie and will be open to Lens Studio creators. For those who don’t know, Lens Studio is an app that allows users to create augmented reality effects that can be used on Snapchat. It aims to compete with Instagram filters or TikTok’s effects.
